Stop Making Excuses. Make that Crucial Change in your life

Excuses. Why do we make them? Is it because we are fearful of the challenge that comes with making change? Is it because we think things will just change on their own without putting in any of the work? Unfortunately, as humans who have done something one way for so long, we do tend to make excuses for why we can't or haven't made a change to benefit from a better lifestyle. But having this outlook and attitude towards challenges that you may come across is a terrible way to life your life, especially when it relates to your own health and well-being. Well, let me ask you this:

In this life, you only get one body. Why not take care of it?

In a world where we are busier and our lives are in more demand than ever, it seems just so much easier to make an excuse as to why we don't take proper care of ourselves. Whether it's a busy business person who is always working, a busy full-time+ mother or even just someone who has a lot on their plate in their current day to day life, you can still make a change for the better. Now, granted that sometimes the excuse can really be valid and of course it can be! It's a busy world out there right now! But I GUARANTEE.. That you can make the time. Even if it starts with a 15 minute light workout or walk around the block to begin with... It's better than what you were doing before! Any movement at a minimum even, is better than the complete sedentary way you were living prior. Even if you aren't sedentary and you are always moving and think to yourself "we'll I am always moving and aren't i technically working out by doing that?". Correct!

But it may not be that movement is your issue, it may well be that nutrition is your issue. Even more so than keeping fit and moving frequently, good nutrition is something that is highly neglected. See, getting a lot of movement and physical activity into your day may not be an issue; but when you're extremely busy, eating healthy can tend to be pushed to the wayside in a majorly poor way.

But think about this; you eat during the day right? Yes? Of course you do! Otherwise you'd have no energy to do what you do daily and eventually would perish away to nothing! Whether the amount you eat is optimal or not or whether you eat barely anything some days and binge on others... You can at least start making better food choices. Switching out that junkie lunch that you bought whilst you were out running errands the other day, for a healthier alternative like something from a sandwich bar, is a good start to making better choices. Making your own meals from fresh whole foods, is always better than over processed foods; but if you struggle to get even any goodness into your diet, then even starting with some oven-prepared chicken from the freezer isle with some microwaved snap-frozen vegetables is a great choice... Because it's a start!

If you're someone who is already moving frequently or doing even some exercise; or if you are someone who is already making healthier , smarter choices nutritionally.... Then keep progressing. Once you have taken one step and are comfortable with it and it has become your norm and is no longer a challenge, take another step forward. Maybe start changing out the oven-chicken for some home-prepared fresh grilled chicken breast and nicely prepared veggies? Now that you already go for that 15 minute walk each afternoon, maybe now add an extra 15 minutes to your routine by adding in some bodyweight squats or a set of push-ups? If you keep making small incremental changes, you will continue to progress your health and fitness levels without needing to bring those old excuses out again.

By reading this, I hope you can now see that no matter your current lifestyle and schedule... There is always ways to improve yourself and make change. Even it's it's so small that you don't even think it's worth it; it is! Because it's a step in the right direction and it is an improvement! To really get the big picture here, think of this: how can you improve everything else in your life and the things that you do everyday that make up your life... When your health is not optimal enough to handle it?

If you give up on your body, your body will give up on you. Look after it. You only have one.
